Detail Pages - Funding Analysis Section
Understanding the Funding Analysis Charts throughout GovTribe
Several pages throughout GovTribe include a Funding Analysis section, which provides information regarding funding for that item (e.g., Federal Contract Vehicles, Federal Agencies, Vendors, NAICS Categories, Federal Grant Programs, and PSC Categories). This information is presented visually and as a list, and can be “drilled down” to lower levels in the data’s hierarchy, where applicable.
This document describes the Funding Analysis data for an individual item, from its Detail Page.
GovTribe also provides a global Funding Analysis Report, accessed through the main main menu (My GovTribe >> Reports), which allows you to view and filter Funding Analyses across the entire GovTribe database. Learn more about the global Funding Analysis Report here.
To access Funding Analysis for an individual item:
Step 1. Access any of the following pages:
Step 2. Click the Funding Analysis tab at the top of the page to quickly scroll to that section.
This document describes how to interpret the information in these sections, using the Federal Agency Department of Homeland Security as an example.
The example below shows the default view of the Funding Analysis section. From this screen, in our example you can see that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded $165b (62% of its total awarded dollars) in Federal Contract Awards since its inception (you can change the timeframe in the dropdown at the top), and $100b (37.6% of its total awarded dollars) in Federal Grant Awards, with a total of $264.5b currently obligated by the Agency.
The view above is displayed in a “treemap”. If you click the second option in the display options at the top, the same information will be displayed in a “stream graph”, shown below:
In both the treemap or stream graph view, clicking on the Contracts or Awards areas drills down a level into details on the Federal Contracts or Awards, as shown below (for treemap view):
And for the stream graph view:
In all three of the above views, hovering over an area displays details, and clicking on an area further drills down in the data hierarchy.
You can return to a previous level in the hierarchy by clicking on levels in the hierarchy "path" at the top left of the view.
The final display option is in list form, as shown below:
While in this list view, you can:
Click Filter to display the Awards for that category in the current list.
Click Awards to display the Awards for that category in the relevant Search page.
