Connect to Claude (Web)

This guide walks you through connecting GovTribe MCP (Beta) to the Claude app (web) so you can use GovTribe tools directly in Claude.

Best For: Easiest to connect, best at creating visuals

Prerequisites

• A paid Claude account that allows you to add custom connectors (Team, Enterprise, Pro, and Max plans support this)

• GovTribe-provided OAuth credentials for ChatGPT:

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

GovTribe MCP is authenticated as a GovTribe user. Your GovTribe account permissions determine what data/tools are available.

Step 1 — Navigate to Connectors

1. If you have have a personal account: go to your personal connectors.

2. If you belong to an organization: go to your organization's connectors.

3. Click Add custom connection

Step 2 — Enter GovTribe MCP details

1. Name: GovTribe MCP

2. Url: https://govtribe.com/mcp

3. (Open Advanced Settings)

4. Add in the GovTribe support provided OAuth Client ID + Secret

Step 3 — Sign In with GovTribe

1. Regardless of if you belong to an organization or have a personal account, navigate to your personal connectors page.

2. Click the Connect button

3. Sign into your GovTribe account and click "Allow" when prompted.

Beta Access: After signing in, instead of "Claude" it may say your company's name. That is okay & expected.

Step 4 — Start Using the MCP

You'll now see GovTribe MCP under your list of available tools.
