Description of NAICS Categories and annotated description of NAICS Search and Detail Pages
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.
NAICS Categories are used by Federal Agencies to assist in procurement categorization. GovTribe maintains a list of NAICS Categories and their details, allowing you to:
filter by your relevant NAICS categories when searching for Opportunities and Awards
research competitors and possible teaming partners within certain NAICS categories
The NAICS Categories Search Page
To access the NAICS Categories Search Page:
Step 1. Go to: Main Menu >> Categories >> NAICS Categories. (Take me there)
The NAICS Catgories Search Page will be displayed, which allows you to view and access information about NAICS Categories.

The following image describes this page and its features and functionality.
Favorite the NAICS Categories relevant to your work to make it easier to pursue relevant contracts. When searching for Opportunities or Awards, you’ll be able to quickly add those NAICS Categories to your filters.
The NAICS Category Detail Page
To access a NAICS Category’s Detail Page:
Step 1. Go to: Main Menu >> Categories >> NAICS Categories. (Take me there)
Step 2. Search for the appropriate NAICS Category, then click on its Title (or View button).
You can also access an NAICS Category’s detail page by clicking on any NAICS Category link throughout GovTribe.
The NAICS Category’s Detail Page will be displayed, which allows you to view and access its information.
Reports Section
At the top of the NAICS Category Detail Page, the Reports section is active and displayed at the top of the page, with the Funding tab selected by default. Click each tab in the Reports section to view a different report for this NAICS Cateogry.

Popular Opportunities Section
This section provides a list of Opportunities that are popular with other GovTribe users for this NAICS Category.
Funding Analysis Section
This section provides useful information about the NAICS Category’s funding history, starting at the highest contracting level and allowing you to drill down to the lowest.
For details on how to interpret the data and graphs in this section, refer to Detail Pages - Funding Analysis Section in the Reports on Detail Pages section of this User Guide.
Details Section
This section provides a description of the NAICS Category, as defined in The North American Industry Classification System.
Federal Contract IDVs Section
This section displays a list of all Federal Contract IDVs that have been awarded for this NAICS Category.
Federal Contract Awards Section
This section displays a list of all Federal Contracts that have been awarded for this NAICS Category.
Federal Contract Opportunities Section
This section provides access to information about the Federal Contract Opportunities currently open for this Agency.
